In a strategic move to strengthen institutional capacity and revitalize the tourism sector, the Delhi government has launched a groundbreaking Tourism Fellowship Program aimed at engaging young professionals in promoting and managing tourism across the capital. Under this initiative, 40 talented individuals will be selected annually to contribute to critical tourism functions such as heritage walks, guided tours, digital marketing, event management, and operational support at key tourist destinations like Dilli Haat, Garden of Five Senses, and tourist information centres.
Each selected fellow will receive a monthly stipend of INR 50,000, making it a substantial opportunity for aspiring tourism professionals to gain real-world experience and build their careers in the industry. Fellows will also support film shoot coordination and assist in organizing MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events, thereby playing a vital role in strengthening Delhi’s tourism ecosystem from the ground up.
The Chief Minister highlighted that this initiative is aligned with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, which emphasizes empowering local talent and traditional knowledge systems to reduce dependency on external consultants. By leveraging the creativity, energy, and expertise of young professionals, the government aims to enhance the operational efficiency and marketing capabilities of Delhi’s tourism sector.
Applicants must be under 35 years of age and possess at least a graduate degree, preferably in tourism or related fields. Preference will be given to candidates with a postgraduate degree and at least one year of formal experience in tourism or allied sectors, ensuring that fellows have both academic grounding and practical expertise to drive impactful results.
This innovative fellowship program is expected to foster a new generation of tourism leaders capable of showcasing Delhi’s rich heritage, cultural vibrancy, and hospitality offerings to both domestic and international visitors. By nurturing skilled talent and promoting innovation in tourism marketing and visitor engagement, the initiative is set to contribute significantly to the sustainable growth and global visibility of Delhi’s tourism industry.
