As Delhi gears up for the 76th Republic Day celebrations, the city is witnessing several adjustments to ensure smooth and secure proceedings. Flight operations at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport will be temporarily suspended between 10:20 AM and 12:45 PM from January 19 to January 26. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) announced this measure through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), citing enhanced security requirements. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updated schedules to avoid disruptions.
On the ground, traffic restrictions have been implemented around Kartavyapath and surrounding areas to facilitate parade rehearsals. From January 17 to 21, major crossings, including Rafi Marg, Janpath, Mansingh Road, and C-Hexagon, will experience closures. Commuters are encouraged to plan alternative routes and adhere to traffic regulations to minimize delays.
Additionally, a ban on drones and aerial devices has been imposed across the city from January 18 to February 1. Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora issued this directive to mitigate potential threats from aerial platforms during the Republic Day celebrations.
These measures are part of comprehensive preparations to ensure a safe and grand Republic Day celebration in the capital.
