Dusit International Expands in India with New Luxury and Upper Midscale Hotels in Emerging Markets

Dusit International, the renowned Thai hospitality brand, has unveiled an ambitious plan to expand its presence in India, focusing on high-potential Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Building on the success of its recent opening of dusitD2 Fagu in Shimla, Dusit will introduce new luxury and upper midscale hotels in cities such as Bhiwadi, Raipur, Lonavala, Kasol, Manali, Kolkata, and Karnataka. This expansion marks the company’s continued commitment to delivering Thai-inspired hospitality and upscale experiences in markets where premium hotel options remain limited.

India’s growing middle class, increasing disposable incomes, and improved connectivity are reshaping the country’s hospitality landscape, with a rising demand for quality stays outside the major metro hubs. Dusit aims to meet this demand by offering its diverse portfolio of brands, which range from ultra-luxury properties under the Devarana and Dusit Retreat banners to more accessible upper midscale options such as Dusit Princess and ASAI Hotels. By focusing on Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where high-end hotels are scarce, Dusit plans to deliver tailored, experience-driven services that resonate with both business and leisure travelers.

Among the upcoming developments, the Dusit Princess brand will debut in Raipur, Bhiwadi, Kolkata, and Lonavala, while two boutique luxury hotels under the Dusit Collection will open in Kasol and Manali, offering refined escapes in the Himalayan foothills. These properties will add a combined total of nearly 1,000 keys to the company’s growing Indian portfolio, continuing Dusit’s strategic approach to balancing quality over quantity.

“We see immense growth potential in India’s emerging cities, where the demand for luxury hospitality is quickly outpacing supply,” said Siradej Donavanik, Vice President of Global Development at Dusit International. “Our focus is on creating exceptional stays that blend our unique Thai-inspired hospitality with local culture and wellness-driven experiences. By partnering with visionary local developers, we are committed to shaping the premium hospitality landscape across India.”

As part of its broader vision for India, Dusit also aims to build an integrated hospitality ecosystem, which includes not just luxury stays but wellness offerings, fine dining, and hospitality education. The company’s sustainability efforts, driven by its Tree of Life program, ensure that each new property has a positive, lasting impact on the local community. Additionally, Dusit will invest in training Indian hospitality professionals through Dusit Hospitality Education, raising service standards and fostering local talent.

This latest expansion into India forms part of Dusit’s global growth strategy, which targets vibrant markets in Asia and beyond. With plans to sign over 100 hotels worldwide in the next five years, Dusit aims to captivate travelers with its distinctive blend of Thai-inspired graciousness and thoughtful integration of local traditions.

Through these initiatives, Dusit is well-positioned to contribute to India’s thriving hospitality sector while reinforcing its reputation as a global leader in luxury and upscale experiences.
