Nishant Pitti, Founder and Chairman of EaseMyTrip, has raised serious concerns about national security risks posed by certain travel platforms with significant Chinese ownership, cautioning that these companies may be accessing sensitive Indian passport data. In a post on social media platform X, Pitti urged Indian travelers to verify whether the travel booking platforms they use are aligned with national interests or are majority-owned by foreign regimes that may be hostile to India. Tagging key government bodies including the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of External Affairs, and Ministry of Home Affairs, he emphasized that this issue extends beyond business and must be seen as a matter of national security.
Nishant Pitti’s remarks came in support of a post by Rikant Pitti, CEO and Co-Founder of EaseMyTrip, who reiterated the company’s stance on responsible and patriotic travel practices. Rikant highlighted that EaseMyTrip was the only Indian online travel agency to boycott the Maldives for over a year, choosing to suspend bookings as a mark of respect for India during strained bilateral relations. He also recalled the company’s swift action following the Pahalgam terror attack, where it became the first travel company to issue advisories against Turkey and Azerbaijan due to their open support for Pakistan, urging Indian travelers to avoid non-essential visits to those countries.
Rikant Pitti reaffirmed that as a homegrown Indian company, EaseMyTrip prioritizes the safety and sentiments of Indian travelers above commercial gains. He expressed satisfaction in seeing other travel platforms adopt similar stands, calling it a welcome step toward collective responsibility in critical times. “For us, it’s not a slogan. It’s our principle — Nation First. Business Later,” he stated.
In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, EaseMyTrip has advised Indian travelers to exercise extreme caution when considering travel to Turkey and Azerbaijan. The public has also responded with strong sentiments on social media, urging fellow Indians to avoid these destinations and uphold national interests by making conscious travel choices.
