Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and SpaceX founder, has unveiled plans to revive the ambitious “Earth-to-Earth” space travel project. The announcement comes as Donald Trump begins his second term as U.S. President, with Musk now co-leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
Central to the project is SpaceX’s Starship rocket, hailed as the most powerful rocket in the world. Initially proposed nearly a decade ago, the Starship is designed to revolutionize intercontinental travel, transporting up to 1,000 passengers per trip at unprecedented speeds. By leveraging orbital travel technology, the rocket aims to dramatically shorten global travel times: Los Angeles to Toronto in 24 minutes, London to New York in 29 minutes, Delhi to San Francisco in 30 minutes, and New York to Shanghai in 39 minutes.
Social media buzz surrounding the project has intensified, with users speculating about its potential approval under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) during Trump’s second term. A viral post on X (formerly Twitter) by user @ajtourville featured a promotional video and suggested the project could soon gain regulatory green light. Musk’s reply—“This is now possible”—has further fuelled excitement.
The Earth-to-Earth travel initiative promises to reshape global connectivity, making cross-continent journeys a matter of minutes rather than hours. If successful, it could revolutionize not only transportation but also commerce and diplomacy, ushering in a new era of ultra-fast global travel.
