EPACK Prefab, India’s leading Pre-Engineered and Prefab solutions provider, announced the handover of the Darbhanga Airport’s Phase-II Arrival Area to the Airport Authority of India and worked with them as their turnkey PEB solution provider on the project.
The Phase-II Arrival Area handles up to 600 passengers hourly, including during rush hours. The Darbhanga Airport now holds a ground of 3100 sq.m., with the new area covering 1,700 sq.m. adding to the original spread of 1400 sq.m.
The expanded airport features: a) 15 check-in counters b) four security check lanes c) two X-ray machines for checked-in luggage d) two X-ray machines for hand baggage e) three conveyor belts f) four boarding gates. These upgrades are to significantly improve passengers’ experience along with streamlined operations.
Within two and half years after the phase 1 completion, the airport witnessed a 4 times surge in passengers from 2021 to 2023. The growing number of passengers at the airport after Phase I led to the expansion of the airport, with the Phase-II Arrival Area project. The tender of the airport expansion project was reclaimed by EPACK Prefab, after they had effectively completed construction of Phase-I.
The airport built under the central government’s initiative of the Regional Connectivity Scheme – UDAN, soon became the best-performing airport within the scheme, as it is effectively meeting the demand and supply of the region catering to the Air travel needs of people. With this, the city is poised to unlock the avenues for its growth and development by attracting investment, infrastructure development, and business expansion.

The airport boasts of a robust standing seam roofing system and durable PUF panels for the walls. These methodologies ensure both structural integrity and energy efficiency within the infrastructure.
