The Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority has announced a new directive in response to the recent outbreak of Monkeypox. This decision comes as part of the Ethiopian Public Health Institute’s effort to enhance public health safety at points of entry into the country.
Effective immediately, all passengers arriving in Addis Ababa from specific countries, including Burundi, Central African Republic, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, and the Republic of Congo, must complete a Traveler’s Health Screening Form.
Additionally, the directive extends to layover passengers who plan to stay in hotels in Addis Ababa before continuing on to their final destinations. These measures are in place to ensure thorough screening and monitoring of individuals who may have been exposed to the virus.
Passengers are required to complete the health screening form either before or during their flight, and it must be submitted to authorities upon landing in Addis Ababa. The initiative aims to safeguard the health of both travellers and the Ethiopian public, reflecting a proactive approach to managing health risks associated with international travel.
