Finnair has successfully wrapped up a €200 million refurbishment of its long-haul cabins, marking a significant upgrade across all its long-haul aircraft. This comprehensive revamp introduces a new Business Class seat, a Premium Economy cabin, and an updated Economy Class, all meticulously designed to enhance the onboard experience.
The centerpiece of this upgrade is the all-new AirLounge seat in Business Class, developed in collaboration with Collins Aerospace. Unlike traditional reclining seats, the AirLounge offers a fixed shell design that supports multiple seating positions, from relaxed cross-legged postures to a full-flat bed for optimal sleep. This innovation, combined with ergonomic features, ensures that passengers can work, rest, or enjoy entertainment comfortably.
Finnair’s Nordic heritage is reflected in the cabin’s design, featuring textiles by iconic Finnish brand Marimekko, with vintage designs by Maija Isola adding elegance and comfort. The newly designed Business Class entrance area also exudes a distinctly Finnish ambiance, creating an immersive environment from the moment passengers board.
Culinary excellence is a hallmark of Finnair’s service, with a menu inspired by Nordic and Asian traditions. Business Class passengers are treated to a gourmet dining experience, featuring a selection of starters, main courses, cheeses, and desserts, paired with award-winning wines. The dining experience is further elevated by the use of tableware from the Kuulas range, designed by Finnish designer Harri Koskinen for Iittala, which emphasizes beauty and functionality.
In-flight entertainment has also been enhanced, with an 18-inch display and a redesigned user interface offering an immersive and user-friendly experience. Passengers can also enjoy USB-C connectivity and PC power options, making the cabin as functional as it is luxurious.
Beyond the in-flight experience, Finnair offers personalized travel extras, including the newly opened Finnair Lounge at Helsinki Airport, designed with Nordic-inspired aesthetics and flavors. Passengers can select preferred seats and pre-order gourmet meals for European flights, while the Finnair Plus program offers exclusive benefits and opportunities to earn Avios.
As a leading network airline, Finnair connects passenger and cargo traffic between Asia, the Middle East, North America, and Europe. With a commitment to sustainability, Finnair aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. The airline has been recognized as the Best Airline in Northern Europe in the Skytrax Awards for 13 consecutive years and is a proud member of the oneworld alliance.
