The first meeting for the upcoming Global Tourism Awards 2025, scheduled for 30th September 2025 at Yashobhoomi, was successfully held with the presence of all jury members. The committee discussed several key updates to make the prestigious event more innovative, transparent, and engaging.
In this meeting, it was revealed that award categories for tourism and travel have been established with clear, measurable selection criteria ensuring fairness and credibility. The jury also deliberated on suggested new award categories, including Best Film Friendly Country, Best MICE Hotel, Best MICE Venue, Lifetime Achievement Award, Young Leader Award, and IT/Technology Platform Award, to broaden the event’s scope and recognize diverse contributions in tourism.

Emphasizing a modern event experience, members agreed that speeches from sponsors should be minimized and replaced with impactful audio-visual presentations. Similarly, inclusion of vibrant cultural programs like folk dances was recommended to break the monotony and enhance the audience experience.
To maintain the integrity of the awards, the jury decided that unanimous decisions will be made for special awards like Young Entrepreneur and Lifetime Achievement, without public advertisements or formal invitations for these categories. Furthermore, nominations from sponsors will not be accepted, reinforcing fairness and transparency.
The event is organised in colobaration with One Travel Alliance (OTA), was discussed with a focus on ensuring a seamless experience for all guests. The jury also recognized the success of previous editions and conveyed a strong commitment to making this year’s event even more impressive and memorable.
For award distribution, the committee agreed that winners will not deliver acceptance speeches. The awards ceremony will be conducted in a continuous flow with brief sponsor presentations, aiming to balance celebration with entertainment and efficiency.
These thoughtful discussions and strategic decisions in the first meeting set a promising tone for the Global Tourism Awards 2025, promising an event that celebrates excellence while innovating the experience for all involved.
