The surge in visitor arrivals during the New Year period has contributed significantly to the local economy and boosted confidence within the hospitality industry.
Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte emphasised that the strong occupancy levels are a result of the State’s continued focus on quality-driven tourism development. He noted that efforts have been directed towards expanding tourism experiences, strengthening infrastructure, and promoting responsible and regenerative tourism practices. According to him, the objective is not merely to increase visitor numbers but also to ensure sustainable growth that benefits local communities and preserves Goa’s natural and cultural heritage.
Tourism authorities also highlighted that visitors are increasingly exploring Goa’s cultural circuits, wellness offerings, spiritual retreats, and hinterland attractions. This diversification is helping distribute tourism more evenly across regions, reducing pressure on traditional hotspots while opening new avenues for economic development.
Director of Tourism Kedar Naik stated that the encouraging occupancy trends reflect effective planning, improved destination readiness, and close coordination with industry stakeholders.
