Goa Tourism Minister Pushes for Enhanced Concert Economy and Air Connectivity in Talks with Union Ministers

In a strategic move to boost Goa’s tourism sector, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Government of Goa, held key meetings in New Delhi with Union Minister for Tourism & Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. The discussions centered on strengthening Goa’s experiential tourism infrastructure, enhancing cultural promotion, and significantly improving air connectivity—both domestic and international.

During his meeting with the Union Tourism & Culture Minister, Shri Khaunte highlighted the rising relevance of the “concert economy”—a tourism model focused on immersive and experience-driven travel. Both ministers agreed on the importance of leveraging Goa’s rich heritage, vibrant festivals, and spiritual tourism potential to position the state as a leading hub for authentic and high-value tourism experiences. A shared emphasis was placed on creating sustainable, iconic tourism infrastructure that preserves and reflects Goa’s unique cultural identity.

In the session with the Union Civil Aviation Minister, Shri Khaunte advocated for improved direct international air connectivity from key source markets and stressed the urgency of addressing the economic viability of domestic routes. He emphasized the need for fair and competitive airline pricing to sustain consistent tourist inflow year-round. Both sides acknowledged the critical importance of a coordinated approach to bridging connectivity gaps and making Goa more accessible to both domestic and international travelers.

“Goa is not just a destination—it’s a cultural emotion,” said Shri Rohan Khaunte. “By building a concert economy and improving aviation linkages, we aim to make Goa globally accessible while preserving its soul.” He further stated that the dialogue with Union leaders reflected a strong Centre-State synergy in creating a tourism framework that is experiential, sustainable, and globally connected.

Shri Khaunte was accompanied by senior officials from the Goa Department of Tourism, including Shri Sanjeev Ahuja, IAS, Secretary (Tourism), and Shri Shawn Mendes, Officer on Special Duty. Both Union Ministers appreciated Goa’s proactive approach and reaffirmed their commitment to support the state’s tourism vision in alignment with national goals.
