Goa Tourism to Mark Shiv Jayanti with Mega Cultural Production “Shiv Garjana” and Drone Show

Panaji, February 17, 2026: The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa is set to commemorate Shiv Jayanti with a grand cultural showcase titled “Shiv Garjana”, celebrating the life, leadership and enduring legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the 352nd anniversary of his historic coronation.

Blending tradition with large-scale theatrical storytelling, the initiative underscores Goa’s growing focus on heritage-led cultural tourism.

The commemorative events will begin on February 19, 2026, at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk near IHM, Porvorim, Bardez, with a ceremonial garlanding of the statue followed by a traditional Dhol Tasha presentation. The programme will be held in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte.

Mega Theatrical Production & Drone Spectacle

As the centrepiece of the celebrations, “Shiv Garjana” will be staged on February 21, 2026, from 6:00 PM onwards at Shree Bodgeshwar Ground. The large-scale production will feature over 150 artists performing on a specially designed revolving stage, depicting key moments from Shivaji Maharaj’s life, including his historic association with Gomantak.

The evening will culminate in a special drone show illuminating the Goan skyline, adding a contemporary visual dimension to the historic tribute. The event is open to the public, with free entry.

Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte stated that such initiatives strengthen cultural tourism and connect younger generations with India’s historical icons, while reaffirming Goa’s commitment to showcasing its rich heritage.

Director of Tourism Kedar Naik added that the programme has been curated to blend historical reverence with immersive presentation, offering a memorable experience for both residents and visitors.

Cultural Tourism Push

With large-format heritage productions and technology-driven spectacles becoming key experiential attractions, Goa Tourism’s initiative signals a strategic push toward event-led destination positioning — particularly during culturally significant occasions.
