Goa has achieved global recognition by winning the ‘Best Coastal Spirit Showcase’ award at the Tashkent International Tourism Fair (TITF) 2024, held at the CAEx in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The award was presented to Goa’s delegation by Mr. Dilshad Bahadirovich, Director of the National PR-center under Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee, highlighting Goa’s growing prominence in international tourism.
The Goan delegation, led by Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, showcased the state as a diverse destination beyond its iconic beaches, emphasizing its hinterland experiences and sustainable tourism initiatives. Key team members included Shri Shawn Mendes, Shri Deepak Narvekar, and Shri Anil Dalal of the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC).
Strengthening Ties and Air Connectivity
During the event, Shri Khaunte paid tribute at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Monument, honoring Indo-Uzbek relations. He also met with Deputy Chairman Shukhrat Yadgarov of Uzbekistan Airlines to discuss enhancing air connectivity between Tashkent and Goa. Discussions with Shri Umid Shadiev explored collaborations in tourism, cultural exchange, and economic growth.
Showcasing Goa’s Appeal
The Goa Tourism pavilion at TITF 2024 featured virtual reality (VR) experiences, cultural performances, and discussions, drawing significant attention from attendees. These efforts highlighted Goa’s blend of heritage, modern charm, and commitment to responsible tourism.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant celebrated the achievement, stating, “This recognition underscores Goa’s dedication to sustainable tourism and highlights our unique blend of culture, landscapes, and hospitality on a global stage.”
Tourism Minister Shri Rohan A. Khaunte remarked, “Winning this award showcases our vision of harmonizing tourism growth with sustainability while preserving Goa’s cultural and natural treasures.”

A Meet & Greet in Tashkent, organized by the Embassy of India and Goa Tourism, featured Shri Rohan A. Khaunte and Smt. Smita Pant, India’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan. The event included presentations, cultural programs, and dinner, fostering connections with trade partners and influencers.
