The Gujarat government earlier this week appointed Rajender Kumar as the Secretary of the Tourism, Devasthanam Management, Civil Aviation & Pilgrimage departments. Kumar, a 2004-batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, replaces Hareet Shukla, who has been transferred to the position of Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat.
Kumar brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having spent the past three years with the World Bank in Washington, DC, USA. His international exposure and expertise are expected to bring fresh perspectives to the state’s tourism and civil aviation sectors. Before his tenure at the World Bank, Kumar served as a director in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), where he was involved in key policy-making processes.
Hareet Shukla, a 1999-batch IAS officer, has made significant contributions during his tenure as Secretary. His new appointment as Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat positions him in a crucial role, especially with the upcoming elections on the horizon.
