In celebration of World Tourism Day on September 27, Haryana Tourism, in collaboration with the state forest department, is organizing a special trekking expedition through the scenic Aravalli Hills. The trek is scheduled for September 28 and will start at 6 a.m. from the Saras Tourist Complex in Damdama, ending at Bada Jhod Talab, covering approximately 4.5 kilometers.
The expedition is a prime opportunity for nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts to explore the picturesque landscapes of Haryana, according to officials. Harvinder Singh Yadav, a representative from Haryana Tourism, highlighted the unique aspects of the trek. “This expedition offers a perfect opportunity for trekking enthusiasts to connect with nature profoundly. Participants will not only get to enjoy the serene beauty of the Aravalli Hills but also engage in bird watching, tree identification, studying biodiversity, and potentially encountering local wildlife,” Yadav said.
The trek will take participants through the Chir Forests, where they can observe resin trapping, explore water conservation projects, and engage in soil moisture conservation activities. In addition to these environmental experiences, attendees may also have the chance to spot birds, encounter local wildlife, and take photographs of the stunning landscapes surrounding the Shivalik Hills and Ghaggar River.
Haryana Tourism has assured participants that guides, emergency medical assistance, and refreshments will be provided throughout the trek. As part of the broader World Tourism Day celebrations, this event is one of many organized by Haryana Tourism, including a second trek at Morni Hills and food festivals at key tourist spots such as Hotel Rajhans in Faridabad, Tilyar Tourist Resort in Rohtak, and Red Bishop Tourist Resort in Panchkula. The goal of these events is to highlight Haryana’s diverse tourism offerings, from adventure tourism to culinary experiences, reported Hindustan Times.
Participants can register on the spot with an online fee of ₹200. Haryana Tourism has also shared a detailed post on social media with a QR code for advance payments. Officials recommend that trekkers wear suitable footwear, bring a walking stick if needed, carry rainwear, and bring their own water bottles. Participants aged 14 and older are encouraged to bring quick snacks for instant energy.
Kala Ramachandran, Principal Secretary of the Tourism and Heritage Department, expressed excitement about the event. “This trekking event promises an unforgettable adventure for nature lovers. It will spotlight the natural beauty of Haryana, promoting eco-tourism and emphasizing the importance of preserving its rich biodiversity,” she said.
The trek is expected to attract both seasoned hikers and casual nature lovers, providing a memorable way to celebrate World Tourism Day while promoting environmental conservation and eco-tourism in the region.
