Hitachi India Appoints N Venu as Managing Director to Drive Growth and Digital Transformation

Hitachi India Pvt. Ltd. has announced the appointment of Mr. N Venu as its new Managing Director, effective 2 June 2025. Venu will take on this role in addition to his current responsibilities as Managing Director & CEO of Hitachi Energy India Limited and Region Head of South Asia at Hitachi Energy. This leadership transition follows the elevation of Dr. Bharat Kaushal to Executive Chairman of Hitachi India, effective 1 April 2025.

Under this expanded leadership, Venu will spearhead the integration and growth of Hitachi’s 28 group companies in India, aligning them with the Group’s new global management plan, Inspire 2027. His focus will be on strengthening synergies across IT and OT (Operational Technology) to expand Hitachi’s digital solutions business, especially through the Lumada platform, while reinforcing India’s role as a key strategic hub for Hitachi’s global operations.

With a strong presence in sectors such as railways, energy, digital industries, financial inclusion, e-education, and healthcare, Hitachi is rapidly scaling its operations in India. The company aims to build a ‘Delivery-layer’ business framework through strategic partnerships to support its India-for-India and India-for-the-world vision.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Kojin Nakakita, Head of Regional Strategies [APAC/India] at Hitachi, expressed confidence in Venu’s leadership, citing his deep understanding of the Indian market. Dr. Bharat Kaushal added that Venu’s success in driving Hitachi Energy’s growth in India makes him well-positioned to lead Hitachi India into its next phase of expansion.

In his response, N Venu stated, “It is an honor to lead Hitachi India at this pivotal moment. India is central to Hitachi’s global growth strategy, and I look forward to strengthening our presence and delivering innovative solutions across sectors.”

With nearly four decades of industry experience, Venu has been at the helm of Hitachi Energy in India since 2019 and has held leadership roles in industry forums, including as Chairman of CII Karnataka (2024–25). He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from NIT Warangal and has furthered his education at IIM Ahmedabad, ISB Hyderabad, and IMD Switzerland.

Hitachi’s legacy in India dates back to the 1930s, with early contributions such as steam engines and turbines for Bhakra Nangal Dam. Today, the company employs over 39,000 people across its India operations.

Globally, Hitachi Energy operates in 60 countries, serving over 140 markets with pioneering technologies in electrification and digital power systems. Hitachi’s broader vision is driven by its Social Innovation Business, uniting IT, OT, and product expertise to promote sustainable development.
