The Indian Association of Amusement Parks and Industries (IAAPI) held a landmark meeting with the Honorable Minister for Tourism and Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. This significant discussion aimed to address challenges and unlock the potential of India’s amusement sector as a major driver of tourism.
During the meeting, IAAPI Chairman Mr. Shrikant Goenka outlined the industry’s opportunities and challenges, emphasizing its potential to elevate entertainment standards and attract both domestic and international tourists. Key concerns raised included high land acquisition costs, GST rates, import duties, and bottlenecks due to BIS standards on machinery. IAAPI also advocated for the inclusion of the amusement sector in government tourism campaigns and sought “industry” and “infrastructure” status to boost investment and growth.
The Honorable Minister acknowledged these issues and invited IAAPI to submit a formal representation for developing a comprehensive policy framework. This collaborative initiative marks a milestone in strengthening ties between IAAPI and the Ministry of Tourism to position India as a global hub for amusement and leisure.
Prominent attendees included Mr. Ankur Maheshwary (IAAPI First Vice Chairman), Mr. Prashant Kanoria (Second Vice Chairman), and other industry leaders.
