Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has announced the signing of a new Gateway Hotel & Convention Centre in Kanamangala, Devanahalli, near the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. The project will be developed as a greenfield venture in partnership with Hombale Group, marking another strategic expansion in one of India’s fastest-growing urban corridors.
The upcoming development will feature a 300-key Gateway Hotel along with a state-of-the-art convention centre, aimed at catering to the rising demand for business travel and large-scale events in North Bengaluru. The project is positioned to capitalize on the region’s rapid transformation into a major commercial and infrastructure hub, driven by its proximity to the airport.
Focus on MICE and Business Travel Demand
Designed to serve both corporate and leisure segments, the hotel will offer a comprehensive range of amenities, including an all-day dining restaurant, specialty restaurant, bar, and lounge. Guests will also have access to leisure facilities such as a fully equipped gym and a swimming pool.
A key highlight of the development is its expansive meetings and events infrastructure. The property will feature versatile banquet spaces and meeting rooms, including a flagship banquet hall spanning approximately 16,000 sq. ft., making it ideal for conferences, exhibitions, weddings, and large social gatherings. The project is clearly aligned with the growing MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment in the region.
Strategic Bet on North Bengaluru Growth Corridor
Bengaluru continues to be one of India’s fastest-growing cities, with strong momentum in technology, infrastructure, and global business investments. The northern corridor, particularly around the airport, has emerged as a key growth zone, attracting multinational companies, logistics hubs, and large-scale real estate developments.
IHCL stated that this signing aligns with its strategy to scale in high-potential micro-markets and strengthen its presence in demand-driven locations. The focus remains on tapping into the increasing flow of corporate travelers and event-driven demand in airport-centric destinations.
Strengthening IHCL’s Bengaluru Portfolio
With the addition of this project, IHCL’s portfolio in Bengaluru will expand to 20 hotels, including 11 currently under development. This reinforces the city’s importance as a core market for the company and underlines its aggressive expansion strategy.
Industry observers view this move as a strong signal of IHCL’s intent to dominate the airport hospitality and convention space, blending business efficiency with upscale hospitality experiences.
