IHCL Signs New Ginger Hotel in Shillong, Expands Budget Hospitality Footprint in Northeast India

The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed a new 90-key Ginger hotel in Shillong, marking the debut of the Ginger brand in Meghalaya and strengthening the group’s presence in Northeast India. The greenfield property will include Qmin, IHCL’s signature all-day dining restaurant, a bar, meeting room and fitness centre, targeting smart, contemporary stays for both business and leisure travellers in the hill city.

Positioned under Shillong’s Smart City push, the hotel will benefit from the city’s growing role as an administrative and economic hub while tapping into its appeal as the “Scotland of the East,” known for Umiam Lake, Elephant Falls and the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival. Developed in partnership with local owning company Khongsngi, the project will take IHCL’s portfolio in Meghalaya to three hotels, including one under development, further consolidating the group’s expansion strategy across high-potential destinations in India’s Northeast.
