IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a management agreement with Adyar Gate Hotels to develop the InterContinental Kodaikanal Resort, scheduled to open in 2028. This new property will mark the debut of the InterContinental brand in Kodaikanal, furthering IHG’s luxury portfolio in India, alongside existing and upcoming projects in Chennai, Mumbai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Delhi.
Set at an elevation of 7,200 feet in Kodaikanal—known for its scenic landscapes, cool climate, and colonial charm—the resort aims to attract luxury leisure and corporate travelers. The property will feature 100 guest rooms, including cottages, and offer a range of luxury amenities. Guests will have access to five dining venues, a pool, a fitness center, a spa, and an exclusive InterContinental Club Lounge. Additionally, two meeting spaces, including a ballroom, will cater to social events and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) gatherings.
Sudeep Jain, IHG’s Managing Director for South West Asia, noted that Kodaikanal’s mix of natural beauty, heritage, and cultural appeal makes it an ideal addition to IHG’s luxury expansion in India. He added, “The InterContinental Kodaikanal Resort will cater to the evolving preferences of travellers seeking serene, luxury experiences.”
Manish Goyal, Managing Director of Adyar Gate Hotels, expressed confidence that the partnership would redefine luxury in the region. He stated, “With the resort’s prime location, exceptional amenities, and IHG’s global standards, we are confident InterContinental Kodaikanal Resort will become a premier choice for affluent travellers.”
IHG currently operates 46 hotels across five brands in India, with a pipeline of 58 more properties slated to open over the next three to five years.
