IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has announced the signing of a management agreement with Dutta Buildcon Pvt. Ltd. to develop Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gwalior, marking the debut of the global brand in the historic city of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Scheduled to open in early 2029, this new-build property will enhance IHG’s growing presence in India’s high-potential secondary markets.
Holiday Inn Express, IHG’s largest and fastest-growing brand with over 3,200 hotels worldwide, is designed to deliver simple, smart, and efficient hospitality for modern travelers. Currently, there are 17 Holiday Inn Express hotels operating in India with another 21 in the pipeline. The new Gwalior property will reflect the brand’s Generation 5 design, offering guests a blend of intuitive service, modern aesthetics, flexible workspaces, plush bedding, and the signature Express Start™ Breakfast.
Strategically located on Jhansi Road, one of Gwalior’s prime arterial corridors, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gwalior will feature 140 well-appointed rooms, an all-day dining option, event space, a meeting room, and a fitness centre. The hotel will cater to both corporate and leisure travelers, ensuring a seamless experience for business trips, cultural getaways, and weekend escapes.
Known as the “City of Forts,” Gwalior combines rich cultural heritage with rapid economic growth. The city is home to landmarks such as Gwalior Fort and Sun Temple, while also serving as a gateway to destinations like Orchha, Datia, and Kuno National Park.
