
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of a management agreement with Yashvi Greenco LLP to bring Holiday Inn Express to Surat, marking the company’s debut in one of India’s fastest-growing commercial hubs.
The 110-key Holiday Inn Express Surat Gauravpath will be part of a mixed-use development in the city’s rapidly expanding Gauravpath corridor and is slated to open in 2029.
Known as the Diamond City, Surat has emerged as a key industrial and trading powerhouse, supported by robust infrastructure development and rising business travel demand. IHG’s entry into the market reflects a strategic push to strengthen its footprint in high-growth secondary cities across India.
The hotel will feature the brand’s Generation 5 design, focused on smart, efficient hospitality with flexible workspaces and contemporary aesthetics, catering to both business and transit travellers.
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, highlighted India as a priority growth market and pointed to Surat’s strong economic fundamentals as a key driver for branded hospitality expansion. Paresh Khandelwal, Managing Partner, Yashvi Greenco LLP, expressed confidence that the property will emerge as a preferred choice for business travellers visiting the city.
IHG currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India and has a robust pipeline of 89 properties expected to open over the next three to five years, underlining its aggressive expansion strategy in emerging urban markets.
With Surat rapidly evolving as a commercial and infrastructure hub, IHG’s entry signals growing confidence among global hotel brands in India’s tier-II cities, where demand for quality, branded accommodation continues to rise.
