India and Japan Strengthen Tourism Ties at 4th Joint Working Group Meeting in New Delhi

India and Japan reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral tourism cooperation during the 4th Joint Working Group (JWG) Meeting held on April 8, 2025, in New Delhi. The meeting was co-chaired by Ms. Mugdha Sinha, Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and Mr. HARAIKAWA Naoya, Commissioner of the Japan Tourism Agency (JTA). Key stakeholders from both countries participated, including officials from government departments, tourism boards, airlines, and major travel associations.

The Japanese delegation featured representatives from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), JTTRI, Japan Airlines, and ANA. On the Indian side, participants included officials from the Ministries of External Affairs, Civil Aviation, and Education, along with institutions like NCHMCT and ICCR. Leading industry bodies such as IATO, OTOAI, and ABTO also contributed to the discussions.

The meeting focused on expanding tourism collaboration, exploring new opportunities for travel exchange, and promoting cultural and heritage tourism between the two nations. To mark the occasion, India’s Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, hosted a special welcome dinner for the Japanese delegation, further strengthening the spirit of partnership and mutual cooperation in the tourism sector.
