In a landmark move to strengthen bilateral relations and boost tourism, India and the Philippines have announced reciprocal travel benefits alongside plans for enhanced air connectivity. Following the Philippines’ recent decision to allow Indian nationals entry without a visa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday declared that India will offer free e-visas to Filipino tourists. The announcement was made during a joint press briefing with Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr, who is currently on a five-day state visit to India.
PM Modi praised the Philippines’ visa-free policy for Indians and confirmed that efforts are underway to commence direct flights between Delhi and Manila later this year. President Marcos expressed gratitude for India’s reciprocal gesture and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to stronger tourism and connectivity ties. He welcomed the resumption of direct flights from October 1, 2025, and pledged to explore further routes for expanded cooperation.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Air India will operate the new Delhi–Manila service starting October 1, with discussions planned to extend flight connections to additional destinations. Officials highlighted that these measures are expected to significantly boost travel, trade, and cultural exchanges between the two nations, ushering in a new chapter of India–Philippines partnership.
