India is rapidly emerging as a global powerhouse in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, with strong backing from the central government and robust infrastructure upgrades across the country. Union Tourism Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat recently outlined the government’s bold vision to position India among the world’s top MICE destinations, emphasizing that the sector is not just growing but transforming into a major economic driver. According to industry projections, India’s MICE market, which generated USD 49.4 billion in 2024, is expected to more than double to USD 103.7 billion by 2030, growing at an impressive CAGR of 13%. This surge is supported by rapid urban development, the construction of over 1.5 lakh km of highways, expansion of railways and airports, and the addition of 2.48 million hotel rooms nationwide. Cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Khajuraho, Kochi, and Jaipur are being reimagined as global MICE hubs, with world-class venues like Bharat Mandapam, Yashobhoomi, and Jio World Convention Centre setting new benchmarks. India’s successful hosting of the G20 Summit in 2023 further reinforced the country’s capabilities in managing large-scale international events. The growth of the MICE sector is also expected to generate high-quality employment in event management, hospitality, logistics, and digital services. With active collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, state governments, and private stakeholders, India’s MICE strategy is now seen as a catalyst for inclusive economic growth, regional tourism, and global business integration.
