Live Events Development Cell (LEDC), during its 4th meeting held at Vigyan Bhavan on April 30, 2026, outlined an ambitious roadmap to position India as a global hub for live events by 2030—unlocking significant opportunities for tourism, employment, and the broader economy.
India’s organised live events sector, valued at ₹145 billion in 2025, is projected to grow at a 10% CAGR to reach ₹196 billion by 2028. With this momentum, LEDC aims to generate an additional 15–20 million jobs, highlighting the emergence of a powerful “concert economy” as a key driver of national growth.
A major policy push was announced with the rollout of a single-window clearance system on the India Cine Hub portal, designed to simplify permissions and improve ease of doing business. States and Union Territories have been urged to adopt a Model Executive Order by May 31, 2026, to ensure faster, transparent approvals for event organisers.
On the infrastructure front, discussions focused on greenfield venue development to support large-scale global events, while skilling initiatives led by Indian Institute of Mass Communication in collaboration with MESC and EEMA aim to build a specialised workforce for the sector.
The initiative positions live events as a powerful multiplier for hospitality, travel, tourism, and creative industries—aligning with India’s broader ambition to emerge as a global destination for entertainment and cultural experiences.
Reinforcing the government’s commitment, Chanchal Kumar stated that both central and state authorities will extend full support to ensure robust and transparent processes for organising live events.
The roadmap signals a strategic shift—transforming India’s live events ecosystem into a globally competitive “concert economy” while simultaneously driving tourism growth and large-scale employment.
