India Unveils ‘Heal in India’ Roadmap to Become Global Leader in Medical & Wellness Tourism: FHRAI and KPMG Launch Landmark Report at Delhi Summit

In a transformative step for the nation’s tourism and healthcare sectors, the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), in association with KPMG in India, has launched the comprehensive ‘Heal in India: Catalysing Medical and Wellness Tourism for a Healthier Global Future’ report at the prestigious Heal in India 2025 Medical & Wellness Tourism Summit, held at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi. With the theme “Unlocking the Potential of Medical & Wellness Tourism,” the summit brought together key policymakers and thought leaders to chart India’s future as a preferred destination for international medical and wellness travelers.

The new report presents a strategic blueprint to position India as the world’s most trusted destination for medical value travel, uniquely blending state-of-the-art clinical expertise with time-honored Indian healing systems like Ayurveda and Yoga. FHRAI President K Syama Raju emphasized the critical role of hospitality in healthcare, calling Heal in India “a nation-branding opportunity” and underscoring the integration of Indian care, cultural heritage, and credibility.

Senior government representatives, including Chief Guest Suman Billa, IAS, Additional Secretary and Director General, Ministry of Tourism, stressed the need for united efforts among stakeholders to build global trust in India’s healthcare and wellness offerings. He highlighted medical and wellness tourism as vital pillars in the global tourism economy, which is poised to reach a $3 trillion valuation soon. Dr Manoj Nesari from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare spotlighted India’s rich legacy in Ayurveda, Yoga, and traditional healing, further underlining government initiatives to promote these globally.

KPMG India’s Director, Someswara Koundinya, presented the report as a “call to action” for India to not only treat diseases but to foster holistic, long-term wellness through innovative policy, digital tools, and international outreach. He positioned India as a rising force on the global medical tourism map, with unparalleled potential for future growth.

Thought leaders such as Prof Minu Bajpai and Dr Blossom Kochhar echoed the summit’s vision, advocating continued excellence in clinical education and a renewed focus on wellness-driven beauty, integrative healing, and cultural depth. Rahool Macarius of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts pledged unwavering industry support for delivering culturally sensitive, patient-centered hospitality – a cornerstone of India’s global wellness tourism mission.

With the release of the ‘Heal in India’ report, India sets the stage to become the world’s integrated healthcare and wellness hub, attracting international visitors who seek advanced treatment, holistic rejuvenation, and authentic cultural experiences.
