Indian Parents Redefine Family Travel in 2025: 75% Prioritise Meaningful Journeys, Reveals Booking.com

A new report by Booking.com highlights a significant shift in how Indian parents approach travel in 2025, with 75% making it a top priority—well above the APAC average of 58% and the global average of 53%. Indian families are increasingly seeking travel experiences that foster bonding, cultural connection, and personal enrichment, moving beyond traditional leisure to more purposeful and value-driven journeys.

According to Booking.com’s latest insights, 98% of Indian parents plan to take at least one domestic trip this year, while 90% are set to travel internationally. Travel for weddings (73%), family reunions (63%), and visits to loved ones (41%) are key motivators, alongside quality time with family (72%), mood enhancement (71%), and mental relaxation (63%). While 79% plan trips with their immediate family, solo travel is also on the rise, with nearly four in five parents planning independent getaways.

Cultural exposure is a top priority for Indian parents—92% believe in introducing their children to diverse cultures, while 90% emphasize reconnecting with their heritage. Asia (62%) leads as the most preferred destination, followed by Europe (55%) and North America (26%).

Indian parents are also redefining travel budgets in 2025. A majority are increasing their spending, with 84% planning a higher overall travel budget. While 78% prefer one or two long vacations, 76% are opting for multiple short getaways. Many are open to flexible plans—70% would travel off-season or take longer routes to save costs, and 63% are planning last-minute trips to take advantage of deals. Spending on experiences is also a priority, with 68% investing in shopping, 65% in restaurants, and 58% in better accommodation.

Technology is playing a crucial role in this shift, with 88% using digital tools to find savings and 91% leveraging AI to curate more authentic travel experiences. AI is increasingly trusted for itinerary planning (88%), travel safety (57%), restaurant recommendations (52%), accommodations (48%), and activity discovery (47%).
