In a major development that could redefine standards in tourist transport services, the Indian Tourist Transporters Association (ITTA) has entered into discussions with luxury automobile giant Mercedes-Benz for the potential acquisition of 100 high-end vehicles, including E-Class and S-Class models.
The announcement was made by Mr. Bobby K.S. Sawhney, Honorary Secretary of ITTA, who highlighted that the move is part of ITTA’s broader strategy to offer premium and world-class service standards through its members across the country.“This step is aligned with our vision of bringing quality, safety, and prestige to Indian tourist transport. Partnering with a brand like Mercedes-Benz not only enhances the image of our member fleet operators but also sets a benchmark in customer experience,” Mr. Sawhney stated.
The potential deal, still in negotiation stages, is expected to bolster the luxury transport segment in India, especially at a time when inbound tourism is seeing a gradual resurgence and there is growing demand for upscale mobility options among high-end travelers.Industry insiders view this initiative as a forward-thinking move by ITTA, one that may encourage other transport associations and operators to modernize their fleets in line with international standards.
If finalized, the collaboration would mark a significant milestone for both ITTA and Mercedes-Benz, blending legacy with luxury to serve the evolving expectations of global tourists traveling across India.
