The Indian Tourist Transporters Association (ITTA) has expressed profound sorrow and solidarity following the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171 in Ahmedabad, which claimed the lives of over 240 passengers and crew, including aspiring medical students housed near the crash site.
In an official statement released by ITTA President Satish Sehrawat and Honorary Secretary Bobby K.S. Sawhney, the organization conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and loved ones of the victims. “We are shocked and deeply saddened by the loss of precious lives in this heartbreaking tragedy,” the statement read.
The crash, involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner en route to London Gatwick, struck a residential area in Meghani Nagar, moments after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, causing widespread devastation and fire. Among the deceased were passengers, flight crew, and several young medical students residing near BJ Medical College, where the aircraft impacted.
The ITTA leadership acknowledged the swift response of emergency personnel and commended rescue teams for their tireless efforts amid difficult circumstances. “Their bravery and dedication in saving lives and managing the aftermath deserve our heartfelt appreciation,” the statement added.
Standing in solidarity with Air India and all affected families, ITTA extended its prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured and emphasized the association’s support during this dark hour. “May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may strength be granted to those left behind to bear this unimaginable loss,” the statement concluded.
