Indian travellers are charting a new course for 2026—where travel is personal, purposeful, and powered by technology. According to Skyscanner’s Travel Trends 2026 Report, three in five Indians plan to travel more next year, with many ready to spend the same or more on flights (58%), accommodation (49%), and car rentals (35%) than in 2025.
Yet, this enthusiasm comes with discernment—food (63%), flight costs (60%), and visa ease (48%) remain key decision factors. The report reveals a clear evolution: Indians are seeking deeper, more authentic experiences while staying cost-conscious.
Emerging trends such as beauty-led “Glowmad” getaways, book-inspired escapes, family travel, and “destination check-ins”—where the hotel itself is the highlight—reflect a move towards emotional and experiential travel. Meanwhile, Jorhat (India) and Jaffna (Sri Lanka) top the list of trending destinations, while Tirupati (India) and Langkawi (Malaysia) offer the best value.
Skyscanner’s expert Neel Ghose noted, “Indian travellers are embracing authenticity, using AI and digital tools to plan trips that reflect who they are. With 86% confident using AI for travel planning, India leads globally in smart, tech-enabled exploration.”
Brand ambassador Suryakumar Yadav added, “Travel keeps me curious—it’s my way to explore cultures and find hidden gems. With Skyscanner, planning meaningful and affordable trips is easier than ever.”
The 2026 report cements India’s status as one of the world’s most dynamic travel markets—driven by emotion, empowerment, and intelligent choices.
