India’s First Wedding & MICE Conclave Debuts in Kerala, Showcasing Offbeat Venues and World-Class Hospitality

Kerala’s tourism sector marked a new milestone today with the launch of the country’s first dedicated Wedding and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Conclave, bringing together global stakeholders to tap into one of the fastest-growing segments of travel and hospitality.

Inaugurating the three-day event at the Grand Hyatt, Bolgatty, Kerala’s Tourism and Public Works Minister, P. A. Mohamed Riyas, highlighted the state’s unmatched combination of scenic beauty, cultural depth, modern infrastructure, and skilled professionals. “Kerala is more than a destination—it’s where dreams come alive,” he said, emphasising the state’s potential to turn celebrations and corporate gatherings into unforgettable experiences.

The conclave, organised by the Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) Society in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, aims to position Kerala as a premier choice for destination weddings and corporate events. The first day’s opening was followed by a shift to Le Meridien, Kochi, where business meetings, exhibitions, and seminars will run over the next two days.

Opportunities in a Trillion-Dollar Industry
Additional Secretary and Director-General of the Ministry of Tourism Suman Billa pointed out that the global wedding and MICE market is worth $1 trillion, with India currently holding just a 1.8% share. “With the country’s growth trajectory, this share will rise,” he noted, suggesting that Kerala consider forming a dedicated MICE Promotion Bureau, akin to successful models in East Asia.
