International Yoga Day 2025 – MOT Celebrates the Spirit of “One Earth, One Health” in Guwahati

The Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India, successfully organized the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 celebrations at the Spots Auditorium, Guwahati. The event saw active participation from over 800 individuals, including tourism stakeholders, school and college students, yoga practitioners, and members of the general public.
The celebration was graced by Shri Laxman Prasad Acharya, Hon’ble Governor of Assam, as the Chief Guest, and Ms. Kalita, Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Guwahati. Both dignitaries commended the Ministry’s initiative to promote yoga as a way of life.

Dr. R. K. Suman, Regional Director, India Tourism, warmly welcomed and felicitated the Hon’ble Governor and other distinguished guests at the event.This year’s theme — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” — emphasized the importance of holistic living, sustainability, and harmony between human beings and nature.

Live broadcast of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address to the nation, which inspired citizens across India to embrace yoga for personal and planetary well-being. (Note: The Prime Minister was not physically present in Guwahati.)

• A collective Common Yoga Protocol session led by a certified yoga professional, with active participation from the entire audience.The Ministry of Tourism continues to champion yoga as a key pillar of India’s wellness and cultural tourism strategy. The IDY 2025 celebrations in Guwahati underscored yoga’s timeless relevance and its growing global resonance.
