A survey by IntrCity SmartBus, conducted with 10,000 travelers, highlights a shift in passenger expectations, with 77% of respondents stating that in-bus washrooms are essential for comfort on long journeys.
The survey shows that 45% of passengers take long-distance trips, and 50% need washroom access at least once during their journey.
Additionally, 42% are willing to pay a premium for buses equipped with washroom facilities, and 54% prefer a mix of scheduled stops and onboard amenities. Cleanliness and water availability were top concerns for 89% and 74% of passengers, respectively.
To address these needs, IntrCity SmartBus, in partnership with Sirona, launched a hygiene kit campaign on November 17-18, providing travelers with essential hygiene products.
CEO Manish Rathi emphasized that the company’s commitment goes beyond adding amenities—it’s about setting new standards for comfort, particularly for women, families, and seniors.
