Jimmy Shaw Re-Elected as President of HRAWI at 75th AGM, Focus on GST Reforms, Sustainability and Viksit Maharashtra 2047

The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) has re-elected Jimmy Shaw, Managing Director of The Waterfront Shaw, Lavasa, as its President at the 75th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on September 17, 2025. The AGM also confirmed the continuation of Mr Nirav Gandhi as Senior Vice President, Mr Chetan Mehta as Vice President, and Mr Pradeep Shetty as Honorary Secretary, while Mr Gurbir Singh Bedi was appointed Joint Honorary Secretary and Mr Paramjit Singh Ghai as Honorary Treasurer. Under Shaw’s leadership over the past year, HRAWI drove several high-impact initiatives, including GST rationalization, excise duty reforms advocacy, food safety campaigns, and the successful hosting of the ‘Empowering Hospitality’ Conclave & Awards. Expressing gratitude, Shaw said being re-elected during HRAWI’s platinum jubilee year is a matter of great honour and responsibility, adding that the association has built strong momentum on critical industry issues ranging from GST reforms to ease of doing business. Looking forward, HRAWI is set to focus on technology adoption, inclusivity, and sustainability while gearing up for the landmark 20th Regional Convention in October 2025 at the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. The platinum jubilee convention will highlight the hospitality sector’s role in Viksit Maharashtra 2047 and its alignment with the Prime Minister’s mission of Viksit Bharat 2047. Shaw emphasized that HRAWI will continue working closely with state and central governments to streamline regulations, promote innovation, and enhance tourism competitiveness, reinforcing its role as the leading voice of hospitality in Western India.
