J&K Tourism on Strong Revival Path, Says Secretary Tourism Yasha Mudgal at National Conference in Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a strong revival in its tourism sector and is steadily regaining its position as a top travel destination, according to J&K Secretary Tourism Yasha Mudgal. Speaking at the Tourism Secretaries Conference held in Srinagar, Mudgal emphasized that the participation of representatives from all states and Union Territories is a powerful indicator of J&K’s growing prominence in India’s tourism landscape.

“This conference is a key event supported by the Ministry of Tourism and attended by the Union Tourism Minister and the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir,” Mudgal said. “It sends a clear message that J&K is not only ideal for leisure travel but is also emerging as a hub for diverse tourism segments including adventure, culture, and business tourism.”

The Tourism Secretaries Conference, one of the biggest tourism-related events of the year, aimed at nationwide collaboration to boost India’s tourism industry. Mudgal highlighted that the event sets a positive tone for the upcoming season and strengthens the region’s image as a safe and vibrant destination.

Addressing concerns over a temporary dip in tourist arrivals following a recent incident, Mudgal assured that the situation has stabilized. “While a short-term slump is expected after such events, strong administrative efforts led by the Hon’ble LG and government officials have brought the situation under control. Tourist inflow is steadily rising again,” she said.

She noted that popular destinations like Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam are witnessing a resurgence in footfall, with visitors arriving from across the country. “We are well on the path to recovery and expect to match, if not surpass, last year’s tourism figures very soon,” she added.

Mudgal also stressed the importance of organizing more large-scale events to boost confidence among travelers and stakeholders. “Such conferences play a critical role in reinforcing the message that Jammu and Kashmir is a secure, welcoming, and dynamic destination for all types of tourism,” she concluded.
