JW Marriott has announced the opening of JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort, its second luxury property in the Maldives, located just 15 minutes by boat from Velana International Airport. Nestled in Kaafu Atoll’s largest lagoon, the resort offers 80 private pool villas, including 47 overwater villas, seamlessly blending traditional Maldivian aesthetics with modern luxury. Designed by architect Cuneyt Bukulmez, the resort incorporates elements inspired by Maldivian ‘Gedhoru’ huts and features open-air showers, private pools, and panoramic ocean views.
Committed to sustainability, JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll is part of a groundbreaking collaboration with INVENA and MIT’s Self-Assembly Lab, introducing a 30-meter underwater coastal structure to combat beach erosion and foster marine biodiversity. Guests can engage with this initiative, contributing to global climate research efforts.
The resort offers seven dining venues, including Athiri, a signature steakhouse with ocean-inspired architecture, and Riva, which presents a refined interpretation of Indian Ocean cuisine. Farm-to-table experiences at Pure highlight fresh, locally sourced ingredients, many of which are grown in the JW Garden. Guests can also indulge in artisanal pastries at Tito’s or enjoy cocktails at the rooftop Nikkei bar.
For relaxation, the overwater Spa by JW introduces exclusive treatments using BABOR’s precision skincare products, including the Ocean Bliss treatment enriched with deep-sea ingredients.
