Kailash Mansarovar Yatra to Resume in 2025 After Five-Year Hiatus, Starting June 30 from Delhi

The sacred Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is set to resume in 2025 after a five-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the pilgrimage beginning from Delhi on June 30. The route, passing through the Lipulekh Pass at 17,000 feet in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district, marks the revival of the revered journey last conducted in 2019.

The final arrangements were made during a meeting in New Delhi between the Ministry of External Affairs and the Uttarakhand government. Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam has been tasked with executing the yatra. This year, 250 pilgrims will undertake the 22-day journey in five batches of 50, with the first group crossing into China via Lipulekh on July 10 and the last group returning by August 22.

The itinerary includes overnight halts at Tanakpur, Dharchula, Gunji, and Nabhidang before entering Taklakot in China. Pilgrims will then visit Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. The return journey will cover Bundi, Chaukori, and Almora, ending in Delhi.

Officials have acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in facilitating the pilgrimage’s revival. With preparations in full swing, the 2025 yatra promises to provide a deeply spiritual experience for devotees amidst the serene Himalayan landscape.
