The Karnataka Department of Tourism is set to enhance its digital presence by launching an interactive website and digital infrastructure platform to promote tourism across the state. The initiative, announced by Tourism Director Dr. Rajendra at a coastal Karnataka tourism workshop, aims to provide comprehensive information on tourist attractions, tour operators, guides, hotels, resorts, and beaches, enabling travelers to plan their trips more effectively.
Under the Karnataka Tourism Policy 2024-29, the government has identified 25 tourism themes and 44 tourism products for support, along with subsidies and incentives to boost tourism development. Dr. Rajendra emphasized the focus on experiential tourism, stating that a calendar of events, including cultural festivals, will be introduced to enhance visitor experiences without commercializing traditional celebrations.
To further strengthen coastal tourism, the government plans to establish a Coastal Tourism Development Board, which will provide investment guidance and develop a comprehensive master plan for the Karnataka coastline. Additionally, the Karnataka International Travel Expo will be held in Bengaluru from February 26 to 28, bringing together 120 foreign tour operators to explore investment opportunities and tourism collaborations.
