With the Onam season approaching, Kerala Tourism has unveiled a unique digital campaign that has gone viral across social media. Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic Mona Lisa has been reimagined in traditional Malayali attire, dressed in the elegant off-white kasavu saree with her hair adorned with fragrant jasmine flowers. Retaining her famous enigmatic smile, the AI-generated artwork blends timeless global art with Kerala’s cultural essence, striking a perfect balance between tradition and creativity. Shared with the tagline “Kerala Tourism Timeless. Graceful. Iconic,” the campaign extends a warm invitation to travelers to experience Kerala’s grand festival, which begins on August 26 and concludes with Thiruvonam on September 5. The creative post has drawn overwhelming appreciation, with thousands applauding the imaginative makeover and the clever cultural integration. Interestingly, the timing of the campaign also coincides with the anniversary of the 1911 theft of the original painting from the Louvre, adding another layer of intrigue. Kerala Tourism’s digital-first initiatives and innovative storytelling have been instrumental in driving a massive surge in tourist arrivals, strengthening the state’s position as one of the world’s leading all-season experiential tourism destinations.
