MakeMyTrip has announced a collaboration with OpenAI to strengthen AI-led travel discovery and better capture high-intent travel queries. As part of the initiative, the company is leveraging OpenAI’s APIs to introduce advanced AI features within its app, enabling travellers to move seamlessly from conversational discovery to booking through its Myra interface.
The integration aims to position MakeMyTrip at the centre of AI-powered travel planning by converting conversational intent into structured, transaction-ready options across flights, hotels and ancillary services. The move reflects a shift from passive search visibility to active participation in AI-driven discovery journeys.
Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and Group CEO, MakeMyTrip, said the collaboration ensures that when travellers begin planning through conversation, the platform becomes a natural extension of that discovery process, delivering personalised and bookable outcomes at scale.
Oliver Jay, Managing Director, International at OpenAI, said MakeMyTrip’s use of OpenAI’s APIs is helping transform travel planning into a more intuitive, conversational experience, enhancing consumer engagement beyond traditional search-based interactions.
MakeMyTrip has been investing in AI and machine learning across the travel lifecycle, from inspiration and booking to post-sales support. Its GenAI Trip Planning Assistant, Myra, currently handles over 50,000 conversations daily in multiple languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and English, with strong adoption across Tier-2 and smaller cities.
