Marriott International has achieved a significant milestone in its regional growth journey with the opening of Legacy Mekong, Can Tho, Autograph Collection, marking the company’s 700th hotel in the Asia Pacific region excluding China (APEC). This new addition highlights Marriott’s strategy of expanding beyond major urban gateways into culturally rich and emerging destinations across the region.
Located on a secluded private islet along Vietnam’s Hau River, the newly unveiled Autograph Collection property brings the brand’s signature storytelling and boutique-style character to the heart of the Mekong Delta. It is the second Autograph Collection hotel in Vietnam, joining the legendary Vinpearl Landmark 81 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The milestone is a proud accomplishment that demonstrates the ongoing trust of owners, partners, and guests, according to Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International for APEC (apart from China). He emphasized that Vietnam is one of the company’s best growth countries, with Marriott growing rapidly into destinations that offer significant cultural relevance and immersive local experiences.
In addition to operating 30 hotels around Vietnam, Marriott is currently working on over 50 projects in major urban and recreational centers like Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, and Ha Giang. Across the larger APEC area, the company now manages 700 hotels under 27 brands in 22 countries, supported by a healthy pipeline of 400 more properties and the global strength of the 260 million-member Marriott Bonvoy reward program.
Legacy Mekong, which is surrounded by verdant tropical scenery, has 86 bungalows and villas that are modeled by the Mekong River’s course and customs. The resort provides Mekong-focused food, holistic health experiences and selected cultural activities aimed for modern experiential visitors seeking true regional connections.
