Meghalaya completes first feature film under Film Tourism Policy2025

Shillong: Meghalaya has achieved a key milestone with the completion of its first
full-length feature film under the Meghalaya Film Tourism Policy 2025,
positioning the State among India’s fastest-growing film destinations.
The Telugu film Baa Baa Black Sheep, directed by Guni Manchikanti and produced
by Chitralayam Studios, wrapped its entire shoot across Meghalaya—primarily
Sohra—in just 25 days, employing nearly 2,000 local youth, the State’s largest
creative workforce engagement to date.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma hailed the project as proof of Meghalaya’s
production-readiness and the policy’s strong impact, noting that “100% of the film
was shot in Meghalaya” and expressing hope that many more national productions
will follow.
Producer Venu Donepudi praised the State’s support and efficiency, calling the 25-
day completion “a record in itself” and confirming that the film will also release in
Khasi.
The milestone aligns with Meghalaya Vision 2032, which identifies tourism and the
creative economy as key drivers of growth. The Film Tourism Policy offers up to ₹1
crore (25%) subsidies, streamlined approvals via the Invest Meghalaya Portal, and
incentives for local talent, multilingual films, and premieres on Hello Meghalaya, the
State’s fast-growing OTT platform.
With over 4.4 lakh downloads, 2 crore+ views, and 500+ regional titles, Hello
Meghalaya has become a cultural engine powering the State’s creative ecosystem —
now strengthened further by its first major feature-film success.
