The Ministry of Ayush today unveiled a film series titled “Ayush for All: Holistic Health Care through National Ayush Mission”, highlighting the transformative achievements of the National Ayush Mission (NAM). The series was launched by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, who also serves as Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to providing equitable, affordable, and holistic healthcare to citizens, including those in the remotest parts of the country.
The National Ayush Mission, a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, has achieved significant milestones in strengthening Ayush healthcare services and integrating traditional systems into mainstream public health. NAM has supported the establishment of 167 Integrated Ayush Hospitals, upgraded 416 Ayush Hospitals, and modernized 5036 dispensaries. Essential Ayush medicines are supplied annually to 996 hospitals and over 12,400 dispensaries. Co-location of Ayush services with public health centers has benefitted 2322 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 715 Community Health Centres (CHCs), and 314 District Hospitals (DHs). The mission has also contributed to the establishment of 3883 Yoga Wellness Centres, 1055 Ayush Grams, and over 12,500 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs nationwide. Furthermore, NAM has enhanced Ayush education by setting up 16 new educational institutions and upgrading 112 existing ones to improve the quality of education and research.
At the launch event, Shri Prataprao Jadhav highlighted NAM’s success in improving healthcare access and affordability. He stated that the mission has empowered communities with cost-effective and accessible healthcare rooted in traditional practices and expressed hope that the film series would make information about the initiatives widely accessible, showcasing Ayush’s role in reducing the disease burden and promoting wellness across India. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, emphasized NAM’s focus on preventive care, medical pluralism, and holistic wellness, which have significantly enhanced public health outcomes. Joint Secretary Ms. Kavita Garg added that the series, part of the Ministry’s digital outreach, would be available on the official YouTube channel of the Ministry of Ayush, ensuring convenient access for all citizens.
By bridging healthcare gaps and promoting wellness through traditional practices, NAM has revolutionized healthcare delivery across the country. The newly launched film series captures real-life stories of transformation, highlighting NAM’s collaboration with state and UT governments in reducing out-of-pocket healthcare expenditures and improving access for underserved populations. This initiative reaffirms the Ministry’s vision for a healthier, more sustainable India through holistic healthcare solutions.
