The Ministry of Tourism successfully concluded a two-day State Tourism Ministers’ Meet, bringing together Tourism Ministers and senior officials from all States and Union Territories to advance India’s ambitious “One State: One Global Destination” initiative.

Launched under the Union Budget 2025-26, this vision aims to develop at least one globally benchmarked destination in every State/UT, enhancing India’s tourism footprint and aligning with the broader Viksit Bharat roadmap.

Union Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat highlighted the importance of collaborative federalism, urging Centre, States, and private players to jointly create destinations that combine diversity, world-class infrastructure, and sustainability.

The two-day meet focused on Destination Development and Destination Management, with States presenting proposals for iconic destinations. Key strategies discussed included:

Development of 50 Destinations: Private sector-led tourism hub development.

Performance-Linked Incentives (PLI): A new model to reward high standards in destination management.

The final session reviewed the draft Integrated Tourism Promotion Scheme Guidelines, aimed at positioning India as a holistic tourism destination for domestic and international travellers.

Closing the event, Shri Suman Billa, Additional Secretary & DG (Tourism), reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to integrate stakeholder feedback, setting the stage for a globally competitive, sustainable, and economically vibrant tourism ecosystem across India.

This historic consultation signals a decisive step toward transforming India’s tourism landscape, generating jobs, attracting investment, and elevating the country’s global travel profile.
