Ministry of Tourism hosts stakeholders conference in Jaipur to promote village tourism

In an effort to promote village tourism in Rajasthan, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India (Northern Region), hosted a tourism stakeholders conference at the Sunrise Health Resort, Jaipur. The 2-night/3-day event was designed to highlight the potential of rural tourism in the state bringing together key industry leaders for a rejuvenating experience amid the serene backdrop of the Aravalli Hills.

The conference attracted prominent figures from across the tourism industry, including travel operators, media delegates, and government officials. The program commenced with registration, followed by high tea and the ceremonial lighting of a lamp to officially open the event.

Set at the eco-friendly and luxurious Sunrise Health Resort, known for its world-class wellness therapies and scenic vistas, the event combined tourism promotion with relaxation and holistic healing. Attendees were greeted with a warm cultural reception, including garlands, traditional tilak, and vibrant performances that set the tone for the gathering.

Dr. R.K. Suman, Regional Director (North), Ministry of Tourism delivered the welcome address, setting the stage for an engaging discussion on tourism development. P.P. Khanna, President of the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI) also spoke, emphasizing the growing opportunities for village tourism in the region. Virendra Singh Shekhawat, Secretary of the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan and Dr. V.K. Agarwal, Chairman of the Sunrise Group shared key insights on wellness tourism, along with an introduction to the upcoming Sunrise Cinevision Academy initiative aimed at fostering talent in the film and media industry.

A highlight of the event was a presentation by Rama Datt, Executive Trustee of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum, who shed light on Jaipur’s rich cultural heritage and its role in attracting global visitors. Rakesh Sharma, Additional Director of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, further elaborated on the state’s strategies for enhancing its tourism landscape.

The evening concluded with a vote of thanks by Shreenathan, Additional Director of the Ministry of Tourism, and Director, Ajay Singh Shekhawat. A vibrant cultural program followed, featuring traditional music and dance performances that showcased Rajasthan’s artistic legacy.
