Roberta Metsola elected new President of European Parliament

Maltese politician Roberta Metsola, 43, has been elected as the youngest ever president of the European Parliament and the first woman in the role for 20 years.
She will assume the post for the next two-and-a-half years after getting 458 votes in the 705-member parliament.
Metsola said it was “time that the European Parliament is led by a woman,” so the EU can send a positive message to “every single young girl” across the continent.
