Moroccan National Tourism Office Strengthens Strategic Push in Indian Market

The Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) strengthened its strategic focus on the Indian market at Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) 2026, held from February 5–7 at Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, following a strong surge in Indian outbound travel to Morocco.

Morocco recorded 19.8 million international arrivals, a 14% year-on-year growth, retaining its position as Africa’s leading tourism destination. The Indian market emerged as a key growth driver, with 53,697 Indian visitors, marking 31% growth over the previous year and a 224% increase compared to 2019.

Addressing industry stakeholders at the MNTO Gala Dinner during OTM, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Maliki, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to India, highlighted the deepening tourism and cultural ties between the two countries, underlining significant untapped potential for bilateral tourism growth.

At OTM 2026, MNTO presented its long-term India strategy, focusing on year-round engagement with travel trade and media, with priority on Leisure, MICE, Destination Weddings, and Film Tourism segments.

Mr. Jamal Kilito, Country Manager – India, MNTO, stated that India’s growth reflects Morocco’s long-term positioning as a high-value destination, supported by infrastructure initiatives such as the Airports 2030 plan and expansion of the high-speed rail network.

MNTO has established a strong trade presence across nine key Indian cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, while expanding outreach to emerging markets such as Pune, Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Jaipur. Strategic collaborations with airlines, travel associations, and specialist partners further support this expansion.

MNTO’s participation at OTM 2026 was backed by a delegation of Moroccan tourism partners, including hospitality brands and destination management companies, aimed at strengthening trade confidence and reinforcing Morocco’s long-term positioning in the Indian market.
