Moscow Partners with Thomas Cook India to Boost Tourism Cooperation

Moscow has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thomas Cook India Group, India’s largest tour operator, to strengthen tourism ties. The agreement, finalized at the OTM trade show in Mumbai, aims to promote Moscow as a key destination for Indian travelers, including leisure and business tourists.

Under the partnership, both parties will exchange knowledge, enhance awareness of Moscow’s tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) potential, and develop travel products tailored for Indian tourists. Thomas Cook India Group has shown keen interest in bringing Indian travelers to Moscow this spring through a familiarization trip. The MoU follows discussions at the Meet Global MICE Congress: BRICS Edition in December 2024, where the Indian tour operator expressed strong enthusiasm for Moscow as a travel destination.

Additionally, Moscow signed an agreement with Maharashtra Tourism at OTM to boost tourism exchanges between Moscow and Mumbai. The Moscow delegation, participating in India’s leading tourism trade show from January 30 to February 1, plans to showcase key tourism initiatives like “Moscow Estates,” “Moscow Tea Time Project,” and “Moscow Gastronomy Project.” Officials expect to hold around 500 business meetings to further strengthen tourism cooperation.

India is a priority market for Moscow, with the number of Indian visitors growing steadily. In the first nine months of 2024, over 61,000 Indian travelers visited Moscow, nearly matching the total figures for 2023. The new collaboration with Thomas Cook India is expected to accelerate this trend, making Moscow an increasingly attractive destination for Indian tourists.
