India’s Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project has reached a significant milestone with the opening of the first section of its impressive 21 km undersea tunnel, connecting Ghansoli and Shilphata in Maharashtra. This achievement marks a major step forward in India’s first high-speed rail corridor, developed with advanced Japanese Shinkansen technology renowned for its speed, safety, and reliability. The corridor, stretching 508 km from BKC to Thane, is witnessing rapid progress with 310 km of viaduct already constructed, 15 river bridges completed, and five out of twelve stations ready—showcasing India’s growing capacity to execute world-class infrastructure. A highlight of the project is the introduction of next-generation E10 Shinkansen trains, which will be simultaneously launched in both India and Japan, reflecting the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations. Construction at major sites, including the engineering marvel of the BKC station located 32.5 meters below ground, continues at a fast pace, while procurement of key operational and control systems is advancing smoothly. This transformative progress in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project also sets the stage for future bullet train corridors in India, further strengthening the country’s global infrastructure capabilities with Japan as a pivotal partner.
